Ugodi Tábor

Adventures, friends, cultures – was the motto of the summer camp organized by the bilingual section of Tarcy Lajos Primary School at the end of August.
The multicultural camp was organized in Árnyaserdő guest house, in a nearby village, Ugod, at the foot of Bakony hills. In addition to the Hungarian students some children from the USA, Sweden and the Netherlands participated in the programs.
The teachers of the bilingual section compiled interesting programs containing outdoor and indoor activities. The beautiful, sunny weather allowed us to spend a lot of time in the fresh air and play football, basketball, badminton and enjoy a horse carriage ride. The boys were excited to catch fish in the pond of the camp – unfortunately the fish were not big enough to cook fish soup, instead we made a camp fire in the evenings and had a barbecue and cooked potato stew.
In the mornings the sound of a trumpet woke up the children and before breakfast they were refreshed with a short PE lesson in the cool, morning air.
They played numbers war, did handicraft activities, drew pictures about nature and environmental protection with the motto ’Save the Earth’.
On Tuesday afternoon we went hiking in the hills and the tired group of children and teachers had pancakes filled with cocoa and jam.
I think this camp was a great opportunity for the new and returning children to meet their future classmates and teachers in a more relaxed atmosphere. We had a lot of fun, the games and experiences overcame the language difficulties. I hope that we can make a new tradition with organizing the camp every summer and next year more children from different countries will join us.
